1. I am a professor

Although I am doing a lawyer's job, I happened to teach the subject of legislation as a visiting professor at a graduate school of the most famous university in Japan. So I have no time to enjoy making my homepage more attractive. The reason why I started this professor job since this April was that I was asked to find some eligible recommendation by a professor of the Department of Law. I tried to find, but no one was there. So finally I myself voluntarily offered to do this job. My concern was that the time that I could spare was only at nighttime. The Dean accepted it and a new professor was born. Like this the things were so simple. In April, the Dean and other members of professors had a welcome party. I thought that the university was shifting from the too academic stage to the age of real job or business, just like as the MBA and an administrative graduate school etc. So they emphasized the examples of the established graduate schools of the universities in the United States. The Dean, who was the first one, expressed the new graduate school image. We told about the collaboration of business and university, the recent students' characters, our cheap salary, the comparison between Japan and U.S.A. etc.

I am lecturing one lecture and two case studies. I was wondering who would take my lectures such nighttime. However I was surprised that as many as 40 students registered on my three classes. This is because that the students had a curiosity of real method of legislation.

2. Good teaching materials

To tell the truth, since the end of last year, I had been preparing for the teaching materials of one year enthusiastically. As my lecture was concerning about the real legislation, there are a lot of materials. At first I had collected there materials and secondly I arranged there materials by one story conclusion method. I could manage to finish making 24 sets for case studies for one year and 12 stories for half a year. In addition I edited them to the Web form. Also I burned them into CD-R and presented them to students. As making Web for is my bobby, I created beautiful HTML texts by using my technique. Because of this, I had to almost stop renewing my Web site, "A Wonderful Life".

As above, I had finished preparing for the lecturing materials. However just before starting my lecture, I asked the back office of the graduate school and realized that there was no digital screen on each classroom. Only few rooms were equipped by such facilities. As this is quite a new school, the teaching equipment seems to be very poor. Foe example, even the back offices are scattering here and there in the campus. So even if I prepared the teaching materials, they would be of no use, because there is no such screen in the class. Surprising enough, there is no such facility that students would make use of their personal computer in the class.

Thus, I had to give my teaching material to students by papers. I tried to print them out. There are as much as 1,200 pages, which was tremendous number. I was so embarrassed it and consulted the office about this. They said that they were willing to distribute them to students. I was saved. However I noticed that I gave them troublesome matters to print them out.

3. Crowded classes

I started the first class at the beginning of April. I was allocated a classroom of which capacity was about 15 students or so. However, more than 20 students came in after another for listening to my lecture. The classroom was so crowded and students were packed in. They were so eager to listen and of course there was no one to sleep. I was so satisfied and had a challenging impression. The next two days were the classes of the case studies. I was wondering who would attend such too much specialized subjects. In addition they were the night class. However many students came. All of them had very clever faces. I had a confidence to continue my lecture.

I was thinking to talk about real business situations, because the students should be boring only academic lectures done by scholars. Especially in the class of lecture, I will invite some of my friends, who are doing real business to solve matters that they face. The theme should be topics of recent days. Students seemed to be satisfied to hear our talks.

As remuneration, I offered dinners to my friends who kindly had a lecture on that day. Near Hongo and Nezu areas, there are various kinds of new restaurants. To compare with established restaurants in Ginza and Akasaka areas, the tasted of restaurants of Hongo and Nezu are not so bad. And the prices are very reasonable. Thinking my tax rate, the salary from the school would be disappearing after these dinners, but still it is very happy for me to talk with my friends. As I had invited various types of specialists, the students seemed to be difficult to catch up with the theme on that day.

The first climax had come before the golden week holidays of May. It is the registration of the class by students. To my "Lecture" class, 19 students registered. To my "Case Study" classes, 19 students resistered officially. Some of students registered one, two or three. So the number of students who resistered was 40, which is so-called the double or triple counting. But the thing that made me surprised was that the rate of attendance was quite high. The period of the attendance rates was low was only the special term of interview to the national government officers test. Except this period, almost of all resistered students had attended. One of my friends, who had a class of another faculty was surprised that there was no sleeping student in my class.

4. Good reports

I make it a rule to nominate two students to write a report at every class on that day. I think they write very good reports. Of course half of them write seems not so good one. However about 30% of students have knowledge and their own opinions. They can express them in report, which is very persuasive. I think that some of them can catch up with average pressmen and others can be a speechwriter of the Government Council. Every time when I found such talented students, I will praise them. For example, in my mind thinking that it would be a difficult theme, I asked them whether they will voluntarily write a report or not, some students raise up their hands to do. After this, they send me e-mail of the report and found that it was sent at 4:00am. One day I asked a girl students how many days to write the report. She said, "Tow days and two nights". I think it would be a very good report. When I said to her my evaluation on her report, She seemed to be happily.

5. Variety of students

As it was the golden week holidays in May, some of students offered to have a dinner together. I agreed and offered to pay about a half of the restaurant charge. As there is a good restaurants in Nezu areas, I booked a Okinawa restaurants and Italian restaurants. I lead students to enjoy dinners together. I told all students and found that a graceful goirl can drink alcoholic very much or that a student have a will to become scholar. Some of them wanted to become an officer of the Government. Each student has hopes and anxiety. Hearing these, I will do my best to help them. I will teach not only business matters but also lessons in our lives.

6. Another half a year

I had done my lecture during half a year under such a situation. I seemed this half a year both long and short. Some of students expressed me that they were happy, because the results of my lecture can be used during the interview of Ministries. It is a good thing, but I hope they can learn from my lecture about skills how to interpret laws and write legal essays.

I intend to publish such books on my lecture. To tell the truth, I am so happy to know that the levels of studentsf reports are quite good. Now I plan to author new books of 26 chapters, of which in five or six chapters I will quote students writings. Ideally to quote whole students writing, however it would be impossible because of limited spaces and quality of essays. When I sounded a man of a publisher, he said it would be diffucult to publish it, because this kind of area there would be limited readers. When I heard of this, I was a bit disappointed. After this, he kindly asked the CEO's opinion of his company. The CEO said they should publish it, because the contents were better than my former book. I should appreciate this CEO, but what are the words of "better than former book..." Anyway my wife and I were very happy. I myself believe that this book would be a cutting age one in business book. I am wondering how many readers would support me.
